This manual has been developed to serve as a hands on tool for community mobilisers and social developmentworkers and activists. It is designed to be a guiding tool for entry into communities, aiming at provoking thought and raising awareness on natural resource management at the Coast of Kenya. Users will find it handy by way of its design. Liberation training and educational methodologies have been synthesized and made simple for easy reading and delivery. The manual is a guide to Ujamaa Center’s Community Mobilisers.

The manual is to be supplemented with a resource book and several other relevant materials, which are

recommended in the annex. The manual is meant to enable the community mobilisers to facilitate a process

of self-discovery and awareness of the local resources in their areas; and prompt the communities to resolve to take ownership of local resources; empower them enough to initiate projects that will be sustainable and beneficial to the communities and the region at large
